FROM THE HISTORY OF RELATIONS WITH CITIZENS WITH DISABILITIES IN UZBEKISTAN
Abstract
The history of relations with citizens with disabilities in Uzbekistan has been marked by discrimination, neglect, and abuse. During the Soviet era, people with disabilities were institutionalized and excluded from many aspects of society. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, people with disabilities continued to face significant challenges in accessing healthcare, education, and employment. However, in recent years, the government of Uzbekistan has made significant progress in improving the lives of people with disabilities. The government has established laws and policies to protect the rights of people with disabilities, increased funding for programs that support them, and taken steps to improve accessibility. Despite these efforts, there are still challenges that need to be addressed, including changing attitudes towards people with disabilities and a lack of resources and infrastructure to support them.
